DIRECTOR OF BANDS


Brandon Jenkins

Mr. Jenkins is currently serving as Director of Bands and Fine Arts Department Chair at Sebastian River High School. He also serves as the Coordinator of Bands for the School District of Indian River County. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Jenkins served as Assistant Director of Bands at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi, and Director of Bands at Heritage High School in Palm Bay, Florida. Additionally, Mr. Jenkins is in the final stages of completing the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Wind Conducting at The University of Southern Mississippi.

During his tenure at JSU Mr. Jenkins worked with the world-renowned “Sonic Boom of the South” Marching Band; conducted the University Symphonic Band; taught conducting and a host of other courses in the Department of Music. At Heritage High School, Mr. Jenkins expanded the band program to include a concert band, symphonic band, wind ensemble, jazz big band, and a jazz combo. The band program quadrupled in size and received consistent “superior” ratings at the Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA) Musical Performance Assessments. Mr. Jenkins received the prestigious Tom Bishop Award from the FBA in 2017 at the Florida Music Educators Association annual in-service conference. Mr. Jenkins was also named, “2018 Teacher of the Year” for Brevard Public Schools.

Mr. Jenkins maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator throughout the southern U.S. His professional affiliations include the College Band Directors’ National Association; National Association for Music Education; Florida Music Educators Association; Florida Bandmasters Association; Na8onal Education Association; and Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc.

 

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF BANDS

Blake Hordé

Blake Hordé, a native of Marietta, Georgia, is beginning his first year as the Associate Director of Bands at Sebastian River High School in Sebastian, Florida. Prior to his appointment at Sebastian River, he served as the Assistant Director of Bands at Fultondale High School in Birmingham, Alabama. Mr. Hordé received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia (magna cum laude). During his studies at CSU, he performed with the Schwob Wind Ensemble, Schwob Philharmonic, and Schwob Chamber Choir. He served in multiple leadership roles at CSU, including the President of the Collegiate National Association for Music Education (CNAfME), and the Vice President of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

Mr. Hordé is a strong advocate for the marching arts. In 2017 and 2018, he performed with the Atlanta CV Drum and Bugle Corps as a Drum Major. He has served on the staff for marching bands across several states, and also has experience in arranging wind music for competitive productions.

Mr. Hordé’s professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the Florida Bandmasters Association.

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF BANDS
DIRECTOR OF PERCUSSION

Doug Moser

Mr. Moser is an Assistant Director of Bands and the Percussion Director at Sebastian River High School and Sebastian River Middle School. He earned the Bachelor of Arts in Music from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, and the Masters Degree in Music from the University of South Florida in Tampa. He is the former director of the USF Herd of Thunder Drumline (2006-2014), and created the WGI championship finalist Brahma Percussion Ensemble independent indoor drumline (2007-2010). Mr. Moser previously served as Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Percussion at P.R. Wharton High School in Tampa, FL (2008-2016). At Wharton, his percussion students were honored to perform at the 2011 and 2013 FMEA All-State Clinic-Conference, the 2012 Florida Day of Percussion, several USF Marimba Festivals, and earned the 2014 and 2015 FMBC Championships Class 3A Best Percussion Award, as well as the 2016 FFCC Marching Scholastic A Silver Medal. 

Mr. Moser is co-author of Masterworks for Mallets, a collection of fifty classic pieces transcribed and arranged for keyboard percussion. He appears on the McCormick Percussion Group recordings Culture Samples: Concerti with Flute and Percussion Orchestra on Capstone Records, and Music for Keyboard Percussions on Ravello Records. Mr. Moser also served eight years as Principal Percussionist for the Florida Wind Band in Tampa, a position he has held since its inception. 

Mr. Moser holds memberships with the Florida Bandmasters Association, Percussive Arts Society, and is an honorary member of the Kappa Kappa Psi and Pi Kappa Lambda music societies. He keeps an active schedule as an in-demand arranger, clinician, and adjudicator throughout Florida. His percussion students have earned positions with the Florida All-State Bands, national summer music festivals, gone on to perform with major drum corps and indoor drumlines, and have studied percussion at leading universities.
